Entering the Debt Counselling Process

We make the debt counselling process as easy as possible for our clients. Our application process is designed to be as simplistic as possible while adhering to the National Credit Act, which guides us with regard to the legalities of the debt management process.

  1. Once we have assessed your financial situation and determined that you are over-indebted, you will formally be entered into debt counselling.
  2. Negotiation between your creditors and ourselves will result in an agreement that stipulates your new reduced payment plan that you will be required to honour. This negotiation includes the freezing of any additional charges and reduction of interest rates that would otherwise make repayment of your debt very difficult.
  3. Once all is agreed, your payments to the Payment Distribution Authority (PDA) will be distributed amongst your creditors and you will immediately start gaining traction with regard to lowering your total debt.
  4. NCR Debt will remain in contact with you to continually advise you on the status of your credit profile and provide you with professional assistance where you may need it.
  5. We will engage all relevant stakeholders throughout the process and once you have settled your debt, NCR Debt will ensure that you are issued with a Debt Clearance Certificate in terms of the National Credit Act that stipulates that all debt has been settled and provides you with a clean financial slate.
  6. We will then ensure that your debt review status is removed from your name and that you are able to enjoy your newfound financial freedom.

What we need from you:

  • Ensure that all information contained in your application is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge.
  • Commit to not incurring any further debt while you are under debt review.
  • Honour your new monthly instalment to the PDA on the agreed time of each month.
  • Notify your Debt Counsellor if your financial situation changes at any time.
